Dec- The South African Qur`aan Union herewith invites you and your family to attend the `Cape Town Qur`aan Festival` that will be taking place at various mosques from 14- 20 December 2009, Insha`Allah.
Qari Abdullah Saeed Anwar, a leading Qur`aan reciter and Qiraa`aat teacher from Pakistan, will be the guest of honour at the event.
The venues are as follows:

Mon 14- Masjidus- Salaam, St Athens Rd After Maghrib
Tues 15- Darul Islam Masjid, Surrey Estate After Maghrib
Wed 16- Masjiduth-Thanie, Rocklands After Maghrib
Thur 17- Masjidul Kareem, Eagle Park After Maghrib
Fri 18- Husami Masjid, Cravenby Jumu`ah
Fri 18- Ahmedi Sunni Masjid, Grassy Park After Maghrib
Sat 19- Masjidul Irshaad, Woodlands After Maghrib
Sun 20- Habibia Soofi Masjid After Maghrib

South African Qur`aan Union are also offering free fulltime Hifdh classes for boys and girls at the Institute of Islamic Sharia Studies, Heideveld. Registrations are now open.

This is an attempt to create a database of all South African nationals who are Qur'aan reciters or memorizers and to document such information in the history of South Africa. The information was gathered from entries in the Qiraa'ah competitions, members and associates of the SA Qur'aan Union, as well as other sources. The tittle 'Haafidh' was reserved for those who are known to have completed the memorization of the Holy Qur'aan. There are literaly hundreds of students that commits the entire Qur'aan to memory every year throughout South Africa and we therefore wish to note each male and female reciter in the country. Yusuf Fisher	Cape Town	Student at Daar Ubayi. 2nd place winner of SA Qiraa competition 2007 Junior category.

Yousuf Mahomed Noorbhai (Haafidh, Qaari, Sheikh)	Durban, Egypt	Qaari Noorbhai is one of the most prominent teachers of Quran in South Africa. He studied in Egypt and recited the Quran to a number of distingueshed personalilies from around the world including Sh Khaleel Husari. He taught Quran at a number of institutions and were the senior Imam at the Nurul Islam Masjid in Lenasia
