Dec- The South African Qur`aan Union herewith invites you and your family to attend the `Cape Town Qur`aan Festival` that will be taking place at various mosques from 14- 20 December 2009, Insha`Allah.
Qari Abdullah Saeed Anwar, a leading Qur`aan reciter and Qiraa`aat teacher from Pakistan, will be the guest of honour at the event.
The venues are as follows:

Tues 15- Darul Islam Masjid, Surrey Estate After Maghrib
Wed 16- Masjiduth-Thanie, Rocklands After Maghrib

South African Qur`aan Union are also offering free fulltime Hifdh classes for boys and girls at the Institute of Islamic Sharia Studies, Heideveld. Registrations are now open.

SA Qur`aan Teachers Biographies

The Muslim community of South Africa has been blessed with numerous exemplary personalities who contributed to the preservation and propagation of the various sciences of the Holy Qur'aan in the country. Apart from studying at various excellent institutions throughout the world, many of these notables acquired their knowledge and skills locally. Shaikh Yusuf Booley

Shaikh Yusuf Booley is especially well known in the Western Cape and Kwa- Zulu Natal areas for his dedication towards teaching the Qur`an. This article appeard in the February 1999 issue of Muslim Views on the occasion of his 50th year in teaching the Quran.

Moulana Saleem Gaibie
Cape Town has been blessed with some of the most prominent Qur’an reciters in South Africa. Amongst them is the very distinguished scholar and Qur’an teacher, Moulana Saleem Gaibie.

Moulana Qasim Sema
Moulana Qasim Sema was one of the prominent scholars and Islamic propogators of South Africa. The following is a biography on the life of Moulana Sema compiled by Moulana Ismail Akoo from Darul Uloom Newcastle.

Moulana Abubakr Khatib
Moulana Abubakr Khatib was an iconic figure and Quran teacher in the Kwa Zulu Natal area. The following was prepared by his grandson, Hafez Mahmood Khatib.
